A few years ago, I learned that the Daiquiri recipe was named for a town in Cuba, and it goes back to the 1800s when they used this cocktail for medicinal purposes. In fact, rum was once used to treat fevers ... and sugar and lime were added to make it go down easier. So now we have a great reason to drink this sweet, flavorful drink, other than just for the fun of it!
You'll have a hard time finding a cocktail that's easier to make. The classic diaquiri recipe is especially easy. Just mix 3 ingredients together, add ice, shake and enjoy.
But your guests won't want you to stop there, especially if it's a hot summer evening. One of the most popular versions of this drink is the Strawberry Daiquiri, usually served frozen.
So plug in the blender and get ready to make daiquiris that will please just about anyone at your cocktail party.
